Barrie Adams completed his accounting studies in 1970 and was admitted as a CPA in 1971 with the Australian Society of Accountants. He advanced to FCPA status in 1993.
Barrie has been Queensland Regional Commissioner of the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (formerly the Australian Securities Commission) since its establishment in 1991 and until 31 March 2000.
In this position, he was responsible within Queensland for corporate and securities regulation and promoting market integrity and consumer protection in relation to the financial system and financial services in general.
Prior to joining the Commission, he held a variety of senior positions in the Queensland. He was also responsible for developing the first on-line database of corporate information in Australia. He also worked for the Shell group of companies in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne, culminating in his appointment as Manager of Internal Audit for Shell’s South Pacific Region. |
