Gorden Tallis is one of Queensland rugby league’s toughest and most inspirational products. Townsville-born Gorden Tallis joined the Brisbane Broncos in 1997, after a 4 year stint with St. George. Labelled the “Raging Bull” because of his fearless, no-holds-barred style of forward play, Tallis played 8 seasons for Brisbane, winning three premierships.
His outstanding and dominant display in the 1998 NRL Grand Final victory over the Bulldogs saw him awarded the Clive Churchill Medal, after being voted the man-of-the-match. He has captained the Brisbane Broncos, Qld State of Origin, and Australian Kangaroo Tours.
In a magnificent career where he played 160 matches in the Broncos’ coveted maroon and gold colours, Tallis retired at the end of the 2004 season.
Gorden recently signed a two year deal with the Rabbitohs, where he plans to make an impact as an assisting coach. Gorden will however, continue to work with Fox Sports but is likely to steer away form calling any Rabbitohs games.
“Gorden is a man’s man, a man of principle, a man whose word is his bond, a man who isn’t afraid to say what he thinks, a man you’d want beside you in a fight and a man who would never let a friend down.” Wayne Bennett – Broncos & Australian Coach |
