In the space of five decades Max Walker has travelled an amazing road from schoolboy sporting prodigy to having one of the most recognisable faces and voices in Australia. Along the way he managed to play Test Cricket in a golden era and VFL/AFL football for the Melbourne Football Club. Academically he qualified from R.M.I.T. and practiced as an architect for 10 years.
His transition from the hallowed turf of the MCG to the hypnotic world of media was seamless…a naturally charismatic communicator on radio and in television. An extension of that storytelling popularity has resulted in seven No.1 best selling books. As an author Max now has 13 titles to his credit totalling an extraordinary million plus sales.
Today his smile and integrity continue to spearhead many creative and successful advertising campaigns. Companies like American Express, Mercantile Mutual, Mazda, Tooheys, Aeroguard, Allam Maxi Homes and recently BRL Hardy Wines (Nottage Hill) have enjoyed the connection between the Max Walker persona and their target market.
To use a cricketing expression, Max continues to be an exceptional “all rounder”. By harnessing varied talents a successful entrepreneurial business portfolio has been created.
The core of Max’s business consists of communication, writing, public speaking, and multi media marketing of products and services to the heartland. As a writer Max has been both prolific and successful. He has just released his latest book: Caps, Hats & Helmets. Under every hat there's a great story, and if you're wearing Max Walker's you are never short of a great yarn. His latest book tells of some fantastic tales and very funny moments, both on and off the pitch. As a keynote speaker, an MC, workshop presenter and after dinner entertainer Max’s acclaim and longevity continue to make him one of the most in-demand people in the business.
In excess of 3,500 speaking engagements have taken him to conferences in far-flung places like Hong Kong, Dubai, Vancouver and Rio de Janeiro. It’s not unusual for Max to be asked to MC, keynote speak, play golf and mingle with delegates, completing a total “all rounder” package. In all, a very accessible Aussie icon and a genuine lover of people…a real draw card.
3,000 hours of anchoring live television programs makes Mr. Walker the perfect host for your corporate video. The smile is contagious.
Max is also a founding director of another company which specialises in nurturing the seed of a concept through to commercial reality by connecting people, ideas and technology. Max’s varied professional experience, business connections, kit bag of skills, profile and integrity have been the catalyst for several new ventures to blossom and thrive. The most recent success is Digital Family Tree - digitally recording peoples’ lives, preserving them for future generations to remember and enjoy. Everyone’s life is unique and thus worth capturing.
Max and Peter Thurin, a professional speaker who holds a black belt in Martial Arts (Taekwondo), have developed a hands-on workshop and outdoors approach to regularly address and refresh individual corporate needs. Every company has a different set of needs dependant on culture, financial status, experience, size and success. To be able to take a group of employees (15-30) away from their workspace comfort zone to focus on attitude, life balance, creating teams that work, communication, relationships and extracting creative ideas to plan and drive their business into future is another area that Max loves to be involved in.
Currently Max is a member of MSAC – the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre Trust. In the first stage of this plan they have pulled together $60million and are now heading into the second stage where they expect to reach a further $65million to be brought into the Trust.
Max is also an Ambassador to the National Gallery of Victoria which is now located in the new Federation Square in Melbourne.
So when Max Walker is being considered, whatever your engagement might require…remember Max will take the time to create and deliver a perfect pitch. He uses his architectural eye for detail to ensure your event runs smoothly and delivers just the right message. He’s a winner…limited only by the imagination. And he’s very user friendly.
