Duncan Fish is a Chartered Occupational Psychologist (UK) and executive coach with more than 25 years' experience helping technically brilliant professionals become the kind of leaders people actually want to follow.
He spent 15 years at SHL, one of the world's leading occupational psychology firms, working with senior leaders across defence, government and corporate Australia, before founding his business in 2017. His own starting point was a long way from the stage: Duncan describes his younger self as a social misfit who had to learn connection and influence deliberately, skill by skill, rather than as a natural gift.
That personal experience shaped ENGAGE, his Amazon best-selling book and the six-part model, En-trance, Network, Guide, Acknowledge, Glow, Enlighten, that now underpins everything he teaches. Delivered through the Engaging Executive Program, the model has produced up to 83% improvement in leadership soft skills in an independent longitudinal study, and Duncan has personally delivered more than 1,000 one-to-one coaching and feedback sessions built on it.
Duncan has taken this work to the stage for organisations including EY, Commonwealth Bank, the Department of Defence, the Institute of Managers and Leaders, and Vistage, building a reputation as one of the circuit's most interactive presenters. He does not lecture. Every session is built around structured activities, pair and group practice, and peer feedback, so participants leave with a specific skill they can use the following Monday, not a list of ideas to think about.
Duncan is based in Sydney and speaks on any topic drawn from the ENGAGE model, including influence, empathy, executive presence and building genuine engagement across teams.
The best constructed learning design I have ever experienced. It beautifully balances theory with practicality in a supportive and fun environment with the challenge and pressure that I needed to go out of my comfort zone.
I liken Duncan's work to somewhat of an interpersonal engagement 'finishing school'. Regardless of your level of interpersonal maturity, I can guarantee that you'll take something from it that will reap material benefits in your professional and personal life.
Duncan's method has made a difference to all aspects of my life, professionally and personally. I thought the book was great but the program beds it in and has given me a framework and tools that I use every day.
