Janice Petersen is one of Australia’s most experienced television journalists and news presenters. She presents SBS World News five nights a week and is a longstanding presence in Australian news and current affairs.

Her career has taken her from the news desk to major stories around the world. She has reported from South Africa, Iceland, Greece, Taiwan, Singapore, Japan and the United States, covering elections, breaking news and major international events. She has interviewed prime ministers, political leaders and prominent figures and anchored rolling coverage of some of the most consequential stories of our time.

Janice began her career with the ABC before joining SBS, where her work has extended well beyond the nightly news. She has presented Insight and Dateline, co-hosted the landmark series Go Back to Where You Came From, and hosted SBS Special Forum: The Social Schism

An accomplished MC, moderator and interviewer, Janice has hosted major conferences, leadership forums and public events, including the annual Crawford Leadership Forum, the Australian Open Inspirational Series with Anna Wintour and Women Deliver 2026.
