Mirusia Louwerse is one of the world’s most celebrated and sought-after sopranos, renowned for her angelic voice, captivating stage presence, and remarkable versatility. Affectionately known as “The Angel of Australia” — a title bestowed upon her by Dutch violinist André Rieu — Mirusia has enchanted millions worldwide over an extraordinary 18-year international career.

Born in Brisbane to Dutch heritage, Mirusia achieved operatic excellence at Griffith University’s Queensland Conservatorium, graduating with a Bachelor of Music in Classical Voice (with Excellence). At just 21, she made history as the youngest ever recipient of the prestigious Dame Joan Sutherland Opera Award, marking the beginning of a stellar journey on the global stage.

Discovered online by André Rieu, Mirusia toured the world for over a decade as his star soprano with the Johann Strauss Orchestra, performing before royalty, world leaders, and millions of devoted fans. Together, they appeared on over 20 million records sold globally — a feat few classical artists can claim. Following this, she forged a powerful solo career, releasing 12 solo albums, many of which have claimed the #1 position on ARIA and AIR Charts across Classical, Classical-Crossover, Pop, Jazz & Blues, and Music DVD categories.

Recognised by ARIA as Australia’s #1 Classical Crossover Artist in 2022, Mirusia’s most recent album, Classique (2024), debuted at #1 on both the Classical and Classical-Crossover charts, further cementing her status as a leading figure in her genre. She has collaborated with some of the world’s finest entertainers, including José Carreras, The Seekers, Nana Mouskouri, Jermaine Jackson, Lou Bega, Anthony Hopkins, Georghe Zamfir and The Wiggles.

Among her many accolades, Mirusia is a proud recipient of two Hollywood Music in Media Awards (HMMAs) — prestigious honours presented annually in Los Angeles, USA, recognising outstanding original music in film, television, and media.  Mirusia is a passionate ambassador for the arts and community causes. She proudly serves as International Ambassador for the Australian Children’s Music Foundation, the Redland Foundation and as Prima Ambassador for Silver Memories — a nostalgic radio service bringing joy to aged care residents across Australia. She was recognised and nominated for Queensland Australian of the Year 2025.

Her performances have been described as “spellbinding”, “heart-warming”, and “a once-in-a-generation talent”, with audiences consistently leaving her concerts feeling uplifted and inspired. As Graeme Press (Musical Director) aptly put it: “Her voice is true and pure over her entire range, register and repertoire. Her performances are consistently flawless; being both alluring and charming … the audience never fails to leave feeling entertained and enriched.”
