Just a few weeks after her 21st birthday, and a mere two years after she had joined Dolly magazine as an editorial assistant, Lisa Wilkinson became the “wunderkid” of Australian publishing when she was appointed as the magazine’s new editor. At 21 she was then, and still is, the youngest editor ever appointed to a national magazine – and in the following four years she more than doubled the magazine’s circulation.
She became the editor of Cleo and to the surprise of many immediately dropped Cleo’s infamous male centrefold. In its place she began the now equally renowned annual list of Australia’s 50 Most Eligible Bachelors. These and other changes saw Lisa once again setting records in her 10 years with Cleo and guiding it to become the No. 1 selling women’s lifestyle magazine per capita in the world. Her eye for future talent also lead Nicole Kidman, Kate Fischer and Megan Gale to their very first magazine covers.
Lisa was also a regular host of Ch 7's Weekend Sunrise, until taking a full-time position with Channel 9, as co-host of the Today program in 2007, a role she remains at today.
In 2014 Lisa was honoured with the inaugural Cosmopolitan Fun, Fearless Female Hall of Fame Award, which celebrated the outstanding achievements of Australian women making an exceptional contribution in their field.
In 2015 Lisa was appointed Editor-At-Large of Huffington Post Australia by Founder Ariana Huffington.
Lisa is a very experienced media performer and with such an interesting and diverse background, she has a fund of fascinating stories from her unique perspective. An accomplished after dinner speaker, Lisa is also a charming MC who will add humour, intelligence and sparkle to any event.
