Bernie Brookes is a Managing Director/CEO with expertise and substantial experience in Retail and Wholesale Operations, Buying, Information Technology Systems, Supply Chain, and Human Resource Management in a fast-moving and dynamic environment. An experienced board member and Chair of large and complicated companies in private equity, international corporates, and small start-ups. 

Bernie’s experience includes leading a multi-divisional organisation during significant periods of change and re-engineering. Having worked in three States across all major divisions, he has an excellent grasp of senior management functions. He has significant international experience. 

His strengths include expertise in business management, displaying energetic and self-confidence with the ability to find solutions to complex situations, using analytical, conceptual, and entrepreneurial skills. Ultimately, Bernie is motivated by results. With 40 years of experience, he brings substantial skills in managing change, organising people, and leading teams with a passion for entrepreneurship and empowerment. 

Bernie has significant retail and business experience establishing a retail business for two years in India, setting up sourcing offices in China, and spending three years running South Africa’s largest non-food retailer. 

Bernie is on the Advisory Board of the World Retail Congress as Australia’s representative and is on the Grand Jury for the World. He is currently consulting in retail for numerous PE companies, financial institutions, and Investment funds in Retail. He is on Advisory board in Artificial Intelligence and Chairman for Direct group, and Chair and Managing Marque retail group ( tde. and Colette), as well as Chair of Public Listed board of Dötz (Israel based).
