Jamie Skella discovers the influence future trends will have on business.

Having dedicated the last 20 years of his life to the emerging technology landscape, Jamie Skella is an expert at looking at the influence of these future trends, and helping business map their response to the chain reaction. With a track record of identifying and seizing emerging technology opportunities across ASX 100 businesses, award winning startups and global brands, Jamie won the world Economic Forum Technology Pioneer award for his Blockchain voting system, that world-first technology was listed 7 among 100 innovation that will change the world by The Australian. Selected as 1 of 25 individuals spaning 20 nations, Jamie was also invited to the BMW Foundation Global Table as a result of his recent work.

In those 20 years of building teams and designing experiences across Blockchain, IoT, esports, virtual reality, future food and more, Jamie also previously founded Contact Light to create Embark - an app featured by Apple seven times, including global App of the Day. A cornerstone of Embark's functionality, he invented patent-pending IoT technology named Nearcast, letting consumers engage with out-of-home environments in ground-breaking new ways. Jamie uses his experience to help organisations look to the horizon of emerging trends, and create their future, to effectively implement these kinds of strategies and technologies.

Formerly Head of UX at the Australian Football League, Jamie worked on UI, connected stadium visioning, and spearheaded the organisation's first virtual reality R&D initiatives. In his younger years, Jamie played for Australia's best esports team and is now an owner of Australia's first esports bar, partnering with organisations such as the Adelaide Crows and Australian Red Cross for social good causes.

Designing not only interfaces, technologies, and businesses, but culture as well, Jamie presents often at events both local and abroad, such as TechEd and Xerocon, on topics including the future of work, change as opportunity, and how to cultivate culture for innovation in government and enterprise.

Looking to the future can be a daunting, and at times overwhelming prospect. But with ease, expertise and clarity, Jamie brings light to terrain, helping people understand the mountains, roadblocks and rivers of opportunity.
