Yani has had a varied career as Vocalist and Performer (solo, in bands and choirs) Choir Mistress and Workshop Creator and as Vocal Coach in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane and, through the Internet, with students in a number of other countries including Bali, Italy, Malaysia, India, The USA (4 times) and New Zealand.
Yani's aim and life purpose is 'to help people find their joy in life through singing'. She helps people fall in love with singing and to facilitate social cohesion in every group singing environment she runs. A singer/performer/actor/musician since 1988 with wide ranging versatility in styles ranging from Jazz, Blues, Funk, Soul, Bluegrass, World music styles such as Sanskrit Bhajan and Kirtan, theatrical roving group The Flying Esmereldas, Cabaret, much much more.
She has experienced a successful and eclectic career as a singer, performer, choir mistress and workshop facilitator. Her love of all styles of music is matched by her abilities - equally adept in from Blues to Gospel, Traditional African styles to Indian Devotional singing, from Soul to Klezmer.
Yani has always been passionate about the arts and through her first love of acting and dancing, singing and music became her calling. She is the choir mistress for several choirs in (Australia and India), a private singing coach, a multi-disciplinary - singing, voice, body percussion and confidence/performance workshop facilitator, and an event producer and more.
She has also forayed into speaking engagements, been an MC for numerous events, as well as her passion and joy of producing events. The sold out Back to the Garden (a Joni Michell Tribute) in 2012 to the annual O Sister Where art Thou and Face the Music (student showcase), DiscoverY DaY and Camp Sing a Lot.
There is nearly nothing Yani has not turned her imagination and hand to, and this remains to be her love of creating and bringing community and singing to people’s everyday lives.
