Dr. Nick Coatsworth has an unrivalled breadth of experience in the delivery of healthcare to Australians as a practicing specialist in both infectious diseases and respiratory medicine, a public speaker and as Nine Media’s Medical Expert.

As the figurehead of Australia's COVID-19 information campaign, Dr. Nick became a respected public figure who provided concise, accessible, fact-based advice to help direct public health regulations and personal conduct. He played a crucial role in Australia's pandemic response thanks to his knowledge and communication skills. In 2024 he hosted alongside Tracy Grimshaw a top rating four-part science documentary exploring the advances in medical science, titled ‘Do You Want to Live Forever’.

Dr Nick is now a regular on The Today Show providing insights into medical issues and news stories as well as fill in host for Karl Stefanovic from time to time. Dr Nick has had a long history of leadership in medicine. He was Executive Director of the National Critical Care and Trauma Response Centre in Darwin, and led the second Australian Medical Assistance Team to the Philippines after Typhoon Haiyan.

He oversaw deployments of AusMATs to Vanuatu and Fiji after Cyclone Pam and Winston and trained Australian field staff in Ebolavirus treatment in preparation for the 2014/15 epidemic response. As well as leadership positions in federal and state health departments, Nick has led humanitarian teams for Medicins Sans Frontiers and Australian Medical Assistance Teams, practising humanitarian medicine in the Congo, the Darfur region of Sudan, and the Philippines. He continues to work on the frontline at Canberra Hospital as a physician.

Dr. Nick enjoys sharing his experiences and can tailor talks to suit a variety of audiences as an entertaining and thought provoking public speaker. He can facilitate panels and take part in Q&A sessions. He is a regular presenter at several notable conferences and events, including the Australasian Society of Lifestyle Medicine Conference, the Pinnacle Pain Sector Awards, and is a prominent member of the Australian Pharmaceutical Physicians Association.
