Emily Gielnik commenced her professional career with Brisbane Roar and went on to have 83 appearances and 30 goals with the club from 2009 - 2018. During this feature at Roar Emily decides to challenge herself abroad, signing with English giants Liverpool in 2012.

In that same year Emily received her first cap for the national team against Japan in 2012 and would continue with the Matildas 11 years later and counting.

Prior to that, she scored a hattrick on debut with the young Matildas national team for a World Cupqualifying tournament in 2011.

She then learned in order to grow, develop and experience being a high-level athlete she needed to immerse herself in as many countries overseas as she could. So it continued in Canada for Ottawa Fury W-League in 2013, to Japan Urawa Reds Diamonds in the top J-League 2016, Avaldsnes Norway in 2017, then back home to Melbourne Victory 2018/2019 for what was a successful season becoming minor premiers.

After a near-perfect season in Melbourne, the German giants came calling, a well-respected club Bayern Munichin which she was a part of the Champions League. Emily then returned home for Brisbane Roar for a break out season sealing the top-scoring golden boot before departing back overseas this time to Sweden forVittsio GIK in 2021 and left two seasons later to explore the high-level competition in the WSL for Aston Villa from2021-2023.

Emily recently departed Villa due to suffering an ankle injury returning home to try and make it back for the Women's World Cup.

Although Emily missed out on playing for theMatildas in the 2023 FIFA World Cup tournament, she was still very much part of it, making appearances on both the Channel 7 and Optus Sport broadcasts.

Emily is now back with Melbourne Victory playing in the 2023/2024 A-League Women’s competition.
