Kevin Sheedy is the AFL’s most enduring contemporary coach, and arguably the most imaginative in the history of the craft. No one could reasonably term him predictable or lacklustre.

He has never been a passive coach, and is well known for trying what commentators have often described as brave tactics. Kevin has been a player or a coach for over 50 years with a record of involvement in over 1000 games and 8 premierships.

As a coach, he has always believed in trying his players in as many different positions as possible, and also in giving discarded players from other clubs a second chance. These moves haven't always paid off, however sometimes they have been crucial.

Kevin is in a league of his own for ideas. He has a remarkably fertile imagination, an insatiable desire to be different with the determination and confidence necessary to push his case, no matter how odd it may sound.

There are plenty of people in football who shake their head in despair when Kevin Sheedy’s name comes up, but ‘Sheeds’ won’t die wondering, and he has a handsome reputation among the football public.

He excels at presentations concerned with Positive and Lateral Thinking, encouraging staff and management to think outside the square, for company and personal pride.

Kevin is the co-author of several books including, Sheeds – A Touch of Cunning, Pockets of Greatness, Football’s Women - the forgotten heroes, Second Chance Winners and Follow your Dreams and the Coaches 500 Club.

He was Honoured in 1998 as a Member of the Order of Australia in recognition of his service to sport and the community, and in 2001 was awarded the Australian Centenary Medal. After his final match with Essendon, Kevin received a standing ovation as he left the field for the last time.

His passion for coaching continued alongside working in an ambassadorial position with the AFL, and in 2012 he moved to coaching the Greater Western Union Sydney team.  He is now a Director of the club.

After a seven year absence, Kevin returned back to coach for the Essendon Club in 2015. In 2017, Kevin was awarded a Victorian Government Sports Achievement Award.

There is more to Kevin Sheedy than football. He is a marketer, a thinker, an innovator, the holder of awards for community service and an inspirational speaker, capable of talking about subjects way beyond the boundaries of sport.  Kevin Sheedy is a man for all seasons, and for all reasons.

Testimonials

Excellent, a perfect fit. Kevin slotted into the event like he was one of our own staff. He stayed for the duration of the event and virtually spoke to everyone in the room. Kevin posed for photos and signed autographs, and his address was not only highly entertaining but relevant to our objectives on the night. He is a true legend.
